Treating Common Neurological Conditions with BoNT-A

Dive into various neurologic uses of BoNT-A that can be considered therapeutic for your patients. In this comprehensive training, you will learn to treat conditions such as migraines, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders, trigeminal neuralgia, and Bell's palsy with Botulinum toxin A (BoNT-A). While many aesthetic providers already treat patients with these conditions, they often lack precise training in its application, which can lead to treatment failure and frustration for both patients and providers. This course will be taught by Dr. Andrew Blumenfeld, the director of the Los Angeles Headache Center. Dr. Blumenfeld is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and certified in Headache Medicine. He is the founding chair of the American Headache Society section on Interventional Procedures for Headache with a focus on using Botox for migraines. He also played a key role in developing the injection protocol used in pivotal migraine trials. Dr. Blumenfeld is a world-renowned expert who teaches nationally and internationally on his clinical research, protocols, and techniques for injection therapy. The course will consist of two components: a didactic lecture and a hands-on workshop. The lectures will cover key topics such as identifying patients who might benefit from BoNT-A treatment for migraines, TMJ disorders, myofascial pain, and Bell's palsy, along with the anatomy and methods of injection for each condition. The second component of the course will allow registered hands-on attendees to bring a patient to practice treatments under Dr. Blumenfeld’s guidance. Observational seats will be available for others to watch a variety of injection techniques. Nicola Lowrey, MPAP, PA-C, will assist with injection guidance during the hands-on portion. Injectable product is not included. Hands-on attendees can purchase BoNT-A for their patient model at cost ($656 per 100-unit vial). CME accreditation is pending. This is an advanced training, and it is highly recommended that participants have at least 3 years of experience with neuromodulators to attend as hands-on participants.
